Disaster relief

We provide disaster relief to communities worldwide through the General Mills Foundation.

General Mills supplies money and typically food – such as Nature Valley granola bars and Green Giant canned vegetables – and coordinates help with company volunteers.

For example, after a devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan in March 2011, General Mills and the General Mills Foundation announced a commitment of $650,000 to support disaster relief and rebuilding efforts.

When an earthquake devastated Haiti in January 2010, claiming about 100,000 lives and leaving several hundred thousand more homeless, General Mills and its employees and retirees donated more than US$400,000 to help with recovery and relief efforts.

In addition, a General Mills corporate jet delivered more than a ton of medical supplies to Haiti.
