Communities

Our commitment to help build strong communities falls under four broad categories:

  • Grants from the General Mills Foundation to strengthen communities.
  • Product donations to Feeding America to stock food banks and support disaster-relief efforts.
  • Charitable corporate contributions and brand philanthropy that support worthy causes like the fight against breast cancer.
  • Employee citizenship that enhances our financial contributions, such as helping small food processors and farmers in Malawi.

 $1 billion
The amount General Mills has given to charitable causes since 1954, when the General Mills Foundation was created.

Our Foundation
The General Mills Foundation allocates funds to non-profit organizations that have helped over 5 million kids in the U.S. lead healthy, active lifestyles.

Our international impact is felt in areas of disaster relief, volunteerism, and through programs like Join My Village

We work closely with organizations like the United Way, CARE International, and Feeding America, the largest hunger relieft organization in the United States.

Partnerships
We also impact communities through brand partnerships - such as Box Tops for Education, which last year raised more than $48 million for schools.

And we impact communities through innovative nonprofit organizations and programs that improve our headquarters and manufacturing communities, with a focus on youth nutrition and fitness and  education.
